Chaos in Kenya
Jan. 9, 2008 - Nairobi, Kenya - Protesters riot after President Mwai Kibaki takes office. Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga accused President Mwai Kibaki of rigging the Dec. 27 election. On New Year's Eve, violence rocked the nation's capital, with demonstrators causing havoc countrywide. With casualties topping 400, the military has been set up around the city to deter the supports of Kenya's opposition movement ODM (The Orange Democratic Movement) as they protest and riot after President Mwai Kibaki takes office. Over a quarter of a million people continue in makeshift camps set up around the country.
